This class will teach you the basic tips, tricks, and tools, for finishing most any jewelry project. From crimp beads, to leather, and ribbon finishes, this class will help in problem solving by exploring alternative routes for finishing pieces. This is a beautiful technique to learn and an aesthetic option in the jewelry making world.  Knotting pearls is done on silk and for the most part for added strength, although the knots add such depth and elegance that many people knot all sorts of beads purposely for the effect.

Kat West

As an army brat, I traveled a lot, and was exposed to a variety of people and cultures. That instilled in me a love of what is unique and different, as well as a recognition of the common thread of things. .
Beaders are frequently asked what inspires them.  I find everything is grist for the mill. I do mean everything.  I have been inspired by high karat gold pieces, and  photos of sea and space. I was recently about to empty a waste basket and was struck by the intriguing curves the plastic liner was making. I immediately made sketches in my idea journal for a future project.
I began playing with beads in the 80's when I was designing and making costumes. It was not until 2000 that I went from playing with beads to being obsessed by them.
I do not possess two dimensional skills, but beads are my artist's pallette.
